We know the possessions you store with us are valuable, and that’s why we go the extra mile to ensure they are safe and secure while they are here.

With that said, we can’t always control what happens, so we’ve put in place a customizable insurance plan to protect your things when we can’t.

When you rent a storage unit from Boxie24 Storage, you will be given the opportunity to purchase an insurance policy that covers the value of your stored items.

Alternately, you can show proof of existing insurance that covers the value, should you have it through renters insurance or by other means.

It’s important to establish this coverage at the time of rental so your belongings are protected.

Boxie24 Storage Protection Plans

This is an extension of the Boxie24 Storage Terms and Conditions. This document outlines the Protection Plans available to Boxie24 Storage customers.

Boxie24 Storage reserves the right to change the Protection Plans for new customers, or to offer promotional pricing to any customers at any time.

Items that were not packed properly, as stated in our packing guidelines, or visually inspected by Boxie24 storage, are not covered by our protection plans.

Customers who had their first appointment scheduled before March 1, 2017 are not eligible to purchase additional protection. Boxie24 Storage will reimburse these customers for loss or damage, up to a maximum of $1,000 per user.

Boxie24 Storage Protection Plans

Basic: This protection plan is free of charge and reimburses you $0.60 (sixty cents) per pound for lost or damaged items. It is important to note that reimbursement is based solely on weight of the item lost or damaged and not value.Therefore, we recommend you to upgrade your protection plan.

Standard: This protection plan reimburses you up to $1,000 for lost or damaged items. This plan will reimburse you for the actual value of your item(s), up to $1,000. This protection plan can be purchased prior to your first pickup for an additional $15 per month.

Premium: This protection plan reimburses you up to $2,000 for lost or damaged items. This plan will reimburse you for the actual cash value of your item(s), up to $2,000. This protection plan can be purchased prior to your first pickup for an additional $20 per month.

Selfstorage insurance

After selecting your protection plan, you cannot upgrade or change your protection level during the entire time of storage.

You are only eligible to cancel your additional protection plan at any time.

Cancellation or missed payments will result in your protection plan reverting to the basic plan.

You can reinstate your plan by paying all outstanding invoices. Any loss or damage occurred prior to reinstating your plan, will only reimburse you for the basic plan.

If you reach the maximum total claim amount of your protection plan, Boxie24 holds the right to revert you to the basic protection plan.

All protection plans require that you use our storage boxes, instead of cardboard boxes, and that you allow Boxie24 Storage to visually inspect and photograph your stored inventory, taking into account the packing guidelines, as provided to you by email.

Items that were not packed properly or visually inspected by Boxie24 storage are not covered by our protection plans.

Upon receiving notice of lost or damaged items, Boxie24 will investigate the cause of loss or damage.

If Boxie24 determines that the loss or damaged was not caused by Boxie24, Boxie24 holds the right to reject your claim.

Boxie24 is entitled to require proof of initial purchase, repair costs and/or replacement value or current market value of damaged or lost items.

Protection plans do not apply to prohibited stored items and repaired items, as stated in the Terms and Conditions, regardless of how such damage or loss was caused.

Items not Allowed in Boxie24 Storage

Boxie24 Storage accommodates just about anything you wish to store, but in order to comply with government regulations, as well as our own property insurance policies, we have to exclude some items from our storage units.

You are not allowed to store such things as:

  • Toxic goods or pollutants

  • Live animals or plants

  • Firearms or ammunition

  • Flammable or hazardous materials

  • Food and/or perishables

  • Radioactive materials

  • Cash or jewelry**

  • Illegal items

  • Waste materials

**Rather than store cash or valuable jewelry in your storage unit, we recommend renting a safety deposit box at a bank.

In addition to being more secure, some homeowner’s insurance policies actually offer discounts for this type of smart safe-keeping.

How much is the pick-up?

The pick-up is free of charge up to 4m2 from the ground floor, 1st floor and buildings with elevators. For all other jobs we charge a small pick-up fee.

Do you also pick-up outside of the city area?

We do pick up outside of the cities, if the distance to the warehouse does not exceed 50km. A km-charge applies.

Would you like to change your pick-up appointment?

You can always cancel a pick-up appointment free of charge up to 48 hours in advance. Please note that we have to charge a cancellation fee for appointments that are being cancelled on short notice. Less than 48 hours in advance: 50% of one month’s rent. Less than 24 hours in advance: 100% of one month’s rent.

Please provide us with all relevant information on your return, e.g. detailed description of items for partial return, parking situation, name on the doorbell etc).
